2021 has kicked off as the ‘Year of Gratitude’ on King Island with the Tasmanian Community Fund (TCF) announcing $34,477 has been awarded to Foundations to Flourish to assist with their 2021 program of events.

Foundations to Flourish engages with a wide range of people on King Island, helping them to develop greater wellbeing through education, awareness and the practise of Positive Psychology.

President of Foundations to Flourish Tara Clark said the group’s volunteers and members were excited that a number of projects could now be rolled out in full during the year.

“We held an amazing Colour Run as part of the Australia Day Festival, a magical mystery dinner and bring expertise to the island for workshops that will thematically focus on gratitude and build on the strength of community,” Ms Clark said.

“Each event will, in its own, allow our community to connect with each other in a meaningful way, encourage individuals to work positively towards their own wellbeing, and in doing so, positively affect our whole community’s wellbeing.”

Foundations to Flourish is run entirely by unpaid volunteers and will remain so under this structure.

“The support from TCF proves to us that we have a well setup program that is sustainable and invests positively in our local community,” Ms Clark said.

“It was born on King Island and is not a model replicated anywhere else in the world and we’ve had interest from other communities wanting to adopt this model.

“For a couple of years, we have been relying on donations, sponsorship and local support from wonderful businesses, community groups and individuals it will be really nice to be able to give back to those who have enabled us.”
