TCF on Flinders Island

Tasmanian Community Fund Chairperson, Sally Darke and Senior Executive Officer, Lola Cowle spent a couple of days on Flinders Island.

The main purpose of the visit was to join with the community for the opening of the Furneaux Community Shed which was opened on Show Day.  The Shed, which was completed with a $193 000 contribution from the TCF and many, many hours of volunteer labour from Shed members is now open and will be a valuable asset for the whole community.

Whilst on the Island, the TCF took the opportunity to meet with the Flinders Island Council, Flinders Island Aboriginal Association and members of the local community to gain a greater understanding of the benefits and challenges of living remotely and what opportunities for improvement existed on the Island.  Our thanks to everyone for making us feel so welcome and for sharing stories with us.  The visit also provided an opportunity to view previously funded projects.
